I discovered glassblowing in 2010 as a junior at Washington University in St. Louis. That encounter with the ancient process of forming this incredible molten material would become a driving force and passion in my life. Upon moving back to Seattle after college, I continued my glass education at the Pratt Fine Arts Center (where I eventually taught as well), Pilchuck Glass School in Stanwood, WA, and a couple months at the Kamenicky Senov School of Glassmaking in the Czech Republic. Mostly, I have acquired my skills on the job - working production, making my own work and assisting other artists, and doing hands-on events with the public in almost every studio across town.
During the pandemic, I stepped away from nearly a decade of full-time glasswork to focus on raising my family and pursuing other endeavors, but the flame in the furnace never fully went out. I had been collecting equipment in my garage for years, and now, 15 years after I first started blowing glass, I’m proud to have built and be opening my own studio in my home in SW Seattle.
I am passionate about sharing the joy and wonder of glassblowing, and enjoy teaching this craft to people of all ages and backgrounds. I am also working towards my goal of creating beautiful custom lighting fixtures for residential and commercial spaces, so if you have a lighting project, let’s talk!
Thank you for being here and I hope to see you in the hotshop soon!
